Previewing the WFA Cup final.

A look at the facts before the final.

2–3 minutes

Excitement is building up as we are approaching the Women’s FA Cup final.

Let’s take a sneak peek at what we can expect to see during the action-packed event.

The story so far.

So, we’re getting close to the final and after all those nail-biting moments in the semi-finals, we’re finally going to see a new name etched on that prestigious trophy.

The real question is, who’s going to win it?

To figure that out, let’s take a closer look at how each team made it this far and what we might expect from the final.

This years finalists are Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester United

Manchester United are presented with the opportunity to do better than they did last year.

If they are successful in their feat they will pick up their first major trophy.

Manchester United’s road to the final.

  • Joined in the fourth round. They beat Newcastle 5-0.

  • Went on to beat Southampton 3-1 in the fifth round.

  • Successfully beat Brighton & Hove Albion 4-0 in the quarterfinals.

  • Progressed to the semi-finals and drew to play last year’s winners Chelsea. The Red Devils beat Chelsea 2-1 for the first time in their history.

  • Back-to-back final qualifications for United, Hopefully this time they won’t come away with runners-up medals.

Tottenham Hotspur

This is Tottenham’s first opportunity to win a trophy. They achieved a historic feat in the semi-finals, and the team is motivated to finish the job under the Wembley arches.

Let’s look at how they made it this far,

Tottenham Hotspur’s road to the final.

  • Joined the competition in the fourth round where they beat Sheffield United 3-2.

  • They progressed to the fifth round where they defeated Charlton Athletic 1-0.

  • Spurs went on to beat Manchester City in the quarterfinals.

Score was 1-1 after extra time. So it went to penalties where Spurs won 4-3.

  • Played the semi-final at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and beat Leicester City 2-1 after extra time.

  • Wembley calls, we will just have to see what happens next.

What can we expect?

The two teams recently met in the WSL, resulting in a 2-2 draw. If this match is any indication, we can expect a very tight game.

There are several standout players across both teams. Manchester United has Rachel Williams, Nikita Parris, Ella Toone, and others who can put in a strong performance.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur has Beth England, Martha Thomas, and more who also stand out.

It’s not just the outfield players who have talent, as goalkeepers Mary Earps and Becky Spencer have shown they have what it takes to get their team here.

So, the game is definitely one you don’t want to miss as it could go either way.

The much-awaited final is just around the corner the build-up to the final is set to begin at 1:50 pm tomorrow, with kick-off happening at 2:30 pm. Don’t forget to tune in to BBC One or the iPlayer to catch all the action live!
