History has been made in the WFA Cup.

2–3 minutes

Today was the semifinals of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup and some really exciting things happened. If you want to know what went down carry on reading.

United have dismantled Chelsea’s treble hopes.

Manchester United 2 – 1 Chelsea.

Chelsea had won three consecutive WFA Cups and came in today competing for a fourth title in the Women’s FA Cup. In the way stood Manchester United, a team that had never been able to defeat Chelsea before, but now they have.
This defeat has shattered Chelsea’s dream of winning a treble and providing Emma Hayes with a fairytale ending to her tenure at the club.

Lucia Garcia opened the scoring in the first minute after receiving a fast pass from Leah Galton. Rachel Williams later doubled the Red Devils’ lead in the 23rd minute with a header.
Just before halftime, it seemed like Chelsea settled into the game as they retaliated when Lauren James scored a goal but nothing more came in the second half.

United have now qualified for back-to-back WFA Cup finals, but their lack of consistency throughout the season may cause them to stumble in the final and once again leave with runners-up medals.

Spurs clinch important home victory in hard-fought tie against Leicester.

Tottenham Hotspur 2 – 1 Leicester City.

After a tough game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Spurs managed to come from behind and secure a memorable win, putting themselves just one step away from lifting their first major trophy. This was a historic moment for both clubs as neither of them had made it this far in the competition before.

Leicester City started the game strongly and scored the first goal, but Spurs fought hard and managed to equalize in the 83rd minute, sending the match into extra time. In the end, Martha Thomas scored the winning goal in the 118th minute.

Despite the result, Leicester City put up a great fight and challenged Spurs throughout the game, despite some drama behind the scenes. The Leicester City team should still be proud of themselves for making it this far, when they’ve been fighting relegation over the last few seasons. Fans are starting to see an improved and consistent side and hope to see more of this in the future.
