Arsenal were forced to wear Chelsea’s socks during their recent London derby match at Stamford Bridge. The Gunners were originally scheduled to wear their white socks, but since they clashed with the hosts’ kit, they had no choice but to wear the Chelsea away kit socks.

This tie was a must-win match for Arsenal as it would have brought them level with their London rivals in the league table. However, Chelsea picked up all three points against the Gunners, who had beaten them 4-1 in the reverse fixture and ended Chelsea’s unbeaten streak.

Three first-half goals from James and Nusken gave Chelsea a comfortable lead over the embarrassed Gunners. Arsenal struggled to keep up with their rivals, managing only an own goal which was their only consolation.

Everton vs Aston Villa.

Saturday 16th March at Walton Hall Park.

Both Aston Villa and Everton have been out of form recently and in this fixture, it showed. There was nothing for either side to be proud of in the first half. A win in this fixture is important to these sides and will act as fuel going into next week as they both face very tough competitors.
After the half-time break, both sides leapt into action and scored 3 goals between them.
Kenza Dali opened the scoring with her first league goal of the season, followed by Salmon who doubled Aston Villa’s lead 5 minutes later.
In the 85th minute, Elise Stenevik headed in Galli’s free-kick, which gave Everton some hope. However, the Evertonian goalscorer collected a second yellow card in extra time and was made to leave the pitch.

Liverpool vs West Ham.

Sunday 17 March, at Prenton Park.

Liverpool appear to be continuing their strong form in the WSL as they bounced back from their recent defeat in the WFA Cup, where they lost to Leicester City.

The first half of the match against West Ham was closely contested, but Lianne Kiernan managed to break the deadlock in the 41st minute by tapping the ball into an empty net.

Liverpool continued to dominate in the second half, with Missy Bo Kearns scoring a goal early on after finishing off a Ceri Holland cross. Sophie Roman Haug then scored their third goal after capitalising on a flicked assist.

Although West Ham managed to score a consolation goal late in the game, with Ueki taking advantage of a misplaced pass and shooting into an empty net, it stood tiny against Liverpool’s prevailing affair.

Manchester United vs Bristol City.

Sunday 17th March at Leigh Sports Village.

Bristol City have won only 1 match and drawn 3 times since being promoted from the Championship.
Lisa Naalsund scored the opening goal for United within 10 minutes of the fixture.
Despite conceding early, Bristol City eventually settled into the game and came close to equalizing. However, the Robins were soon reduced to 10 players as Jaime Lee Napier received 2 yellow cards and was sent off for a reckless challenge.
United took advantage of their numerical advantage, with Naalsund scoring her first and second goals of the season, doubling their lead.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Manchester City.

Sunday 17th March, at the Broadfield Stadium.

Manchester City suffered a cupset to Spurs in their quarterfinal of the WFA Cup when it went to penalties. Brighton were also eliminated from the WFA Cup after losing 4-0 to Manchester United.
This begged the question, could City one-up their Manchester rivals and secure points and multiple goals to top the WSL table off the back of this devastating loss?
Lauren Hemp was the first to score for City, squeezing the ball past the keeper.
Fowler doubled the lead just before the break.
More action followed into the second half as Bunny Shaw scored once again, marking her 16th goal this season.
Coombs later added a fourth to the tally.
Brighton managed to pull one back late on in the game, giving their home ground something to celebrate despite falling to a dominant Manchester City.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Leicester City.

Sunday 17th March at Brisbane Road.

Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester are set to face each other in the WFA Cup semifinals, marking the first time either team has made it this far in the tournament.
This WSL game served as a dress rehearsal for that important upcoming semifinal.

Tottenham Hotspur got off to a great start, with Vinberg scoring the opening goal just two minutes into the game, assisted by Naz.

During their previous match against Manchester City, Becky Spencer showcased her talent as a standout player, making crucial saves to get Spurs into the semifinal. She carried that energy into the match against Leicester, maintaining a clean sheet despite several close chances from Whelan, Petermann, and Rantala in quick succession. However, Spencer denied each player, securing the victory for Robert Vilahamn’s Tottenham Hotspur side.
