Will the Vixens be able to maintain their position in the WSL?

Bristol City held Aston Villa to a 2-2 draw to kick off a weekend of WSL action at the Poundland Bescot Stadium.

According to the statistics, Villa registered 36 shots to Bristol’s 4, and, surprisingly, the match ended in a draw.

At the hour mark, Leon scored for Villa, thanks to a Corsie assist. 15 minutes later, Bristol City’s Jones shot a goal in reply to settle the scoreboard.

This draw follows a string of losses for the Vixens as they hope to maintain their place in the top tier of women’s football.

When the league resumes, Bristol City will visit Leicester, while Villa will travel to Spurs.

Manchester United vs Brighton & Hove Albion at Leigh Sports Village.

A Phillip’s-less brighton lose to United.

The seagulls have very ambitious plans, including talk of a dedicated women’s stadium. So it was a surprise to many when they announced the departure of their manager, Melissa Phillips.

The departure left interim head coach (Mikey Harris) to lead them in their duel against Manchester United.

Nikita Parris scored twice, bringing her total tally to 8 goals in 12 appearances. She was in a double act with Geyse, who glided past Brighton’s defence to assist with both goals.

Brighton’s next league match will be against Liverpool. Meanwhile, Manchester United will face Arsenal.

West Ham United vs Arsenal at the Chigwell Construction Stadium.

West Ham beat Arsenal for the first time ever.

West Ham secured a victory against relegation rivals Bristol City last weekend. They carried that momentum into this weekend’s match, where they came from behind to win.

It was a sight for Gooner’s sore eyes to see Williamson back in the starting 11 as she returns to football after suffering an ACL injury.

In the first half, Arsenal made several goalward attempts. Russo finally scored to bring Arsenal 1-0 up before the break.

After a foul by Catley, West Ham received a penalty. Asseyi stepped up and made it past Zinsberger, equalizing the scoreboard. Cissoko also made the scoresheet, granting the Irons their third win of the season.

This win allows West Ham to jump up to 9th place before they play 10th place Everton. Whilst Arsenal will go on to play fellow title chasers Manchester United.

2 beautiful late goals grants City another win.

Leicester’s backline was pushed to play defensively against a dominant Manchester City, who managed to register 9 shots on target but were unable to score until late on in the match.

An acrobatic finish from Hemp completed a Shaw cross in the 82nd minute finally breaking the deadlock.

Just moments later, Kelly added a second goal to the scoreboard by whipping her corner shot directly into the goal.

This victory marked the 7th consecutive win for Gareth Taylor’s Manchester City before they set their sights on travelling to Kingsmeadow to face reigning champions Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Leicester will be facing the relegation spot holders, Bristol City.
